Hi all,

I just wanted to give everyone an update on the health and wellfare of the kitten so bravely rescued by Karl, Christina and Mylene (and whoever else was involved in the coordinated rescue effort).

On Friday, we left the office and I secured her (We are fairly certain she is a she) in a box for the long and treachorous drive to outer Lakewood. We braved many dangerous drivers and had only one mishap (she had a bit of an accident, fortunately I had a bottle of water and a towel in the car).

Upon arriving at her new diggs she was promptly set upon by wild children (we kept the puppy in her crate while the kiddies were acclimating her). My son Q

Loves all animals, so he was terribly pleased.

My daughter M

Is still not over the excitement. The poor kitten has had very little time on the ground at our house.

Once she seemed comfortable withe her new environs, we released the beast.

Well, she’s not really a beast. Her name is Crumpet and she is sweet enough to let a 5 year old paint her.

She is a bit energetic though, and the kitten was a little intimidated at first. She stayed intimidated for about 3 minutes and then smacked Crumpet soundly on the nose.

Crumpet is now very aware of who is in charge.

While they were getting to know each other, the kids and I began lobbying for names. My son thought the name Robot was ideal. My daughter countered with either Princess or Cutie. My wife thought Ghost was appropriate considering her coloration. Ghost was nosing to the front, but my daughter nixed it due to her, until then unrevealed, fear of ghosts.

After much debate everyone agreed to my suggestion of Wednesday. The origin of this name is from one of my favorite series of books (The Thursday Next series by Jasper FForde) coupled with my affection for the Addams Family.

So, young Wednesday is doing well and is plumping up quite nicely.

…of course, there is one member of the family who is a little put out.

But there always is.
